Crankshaft Sensor??? Timimg???

Alright here my life story, my cars running like a champ then one day it dies( felt like it ran out of gas) Then it would turn over but not fire, I brought it to a mechanic and it sat thier for 6 weeks and they had no awnser. They diognostic stated a bad crank shaft sensor. They put a new one in but my thought is because they dont know much about the roatart cars they put it in rong. They gave up and now its in mine and 2 other freind/mechanics hands. We have found a clogges fuel filter and now the car runs but it fires WAYYYYY OFFFF it sounds like a shotgun when it repaetedly backfires. I need some help. It would make sence that when my car died it was the bad crank shaft sensor so it wouldnt fire at all and now with a new one in it fires but the timimg is off because of the mechanic putting it in rong would all of this make sence 2 any1 I NEED MY RX7 BACK......Someone Save the day

Yes. If the timing is off, it could run really bad. Go check the FAQ thread for the free FSM, in there it shows the procedure to set the timing.

check this link out https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/faq-fc-frequently-asked-questions-2nd-generation-rx-7-a-181219/

In it, there are links to the Factory Service Manuals in pdf. Find the one the applies to your car, to your problem. Follow the directions in the manual, buy/rent a timing gun and set your timing.
