crank pulley question
I'm just asking out of curiosity, but does the crank pulley or a crank pulley need to be balanced to run to at least 8k rpm without causing damage to the motor bearings or other internals. Also if it does need balanced, how precise does it need to be?

You don't need to balance it, but you shouldn't do that without upgraded hardened stationary gears, because you are running a risk of screwing up your engine bad.

Whoa did I ever loose you there No, I don't mean to run the engine past redline or anything of that sort. I mean the main pulley attached to the eccentric shaft held on with like four small bolts that turns the belts for the accessories. Is that more descriptive of the item I'm talking about? Like if I had one made by someone, would it need to be balanced to a great degree? Just the pulley now, not the motor, to use daily and not screw stuff up in the rpm range up to redline.

Alrighty then. Thanks for the input. I might get my brother(actually his buddy at work) to make one from measurements from mine. Probably use some type of Aluminum with a slight underdriven PS and AC. I just can't see spending $200 on the UO one
