Craftsman breaker bar=broken bar

If I broke 2 breaker bars and a wrench on the 54mm flywheel nut, will a 1/2 impact gun work?

It probably stands a better chance.

I have a 3/4" impact gun that owns the flywheel nut. 1/2" should get it done with no sweat.

I didn't have much of a problem with my weenie 1/2" impact gun, but its always fun explaining how the breaker bar broke at the store. "We couldn't the nut loose so we added a 4' length of pipe..."

With craftsman you get what you pay for.... The bonus with craftsman is the warranty. No questions asked.

Get a ratchet with a clutch bearing instead of geared. You can put tons to torque on those

but, since for most jobs they cut it I think it's worth the savings versus something like SnapOn.

but anyway, this has come up many times. take it to a repair or machine shop and they should have a heavy duty impact wrench to take care of it for you. or find/borrow/buy a bigger drive breaker bar and use thick pipes.

I used a 3/4" breaker bar and a jack handle from one of those huge hydraulic floor jacks. Popped the nut loose after I jumped on it a few times while a buddy held the flywheel with a crowbar. Quite a redneck contraption.

I broke 3 Craftsmans before I gave up and bought a 3/4" S&K. Needless to say, it worked.

I never had any luck with the Craftsman, and the Husky air impact gun on a 25
gal compressor. I ended up renting an electrical 3/4 hitachi impact gun, it took care of it in less than 5 sec!

It was soo good, that I ended up buying one

Didn't know that; I bought the Husky because it had a "higher" tq spec

With the electric impact tool, I don't worry about the front e shaft bolt ot the flywheel nut

Well, I am not positive about their electric tools then, but I know their wrenches, sockets and the like are made on the same line. Just different name stamped on them.

Just to avoid confusion for future readers...

1 - I used a 200lbs tq (or so) craftsman air impact gun = Didn't work

2 - Bought a 350lbs tq (or so) Hysky air impact gun = Didn't work

3 - Rented a Hitachi 3/4 electric Impact Gun =

Here is pic of it:

Has anyone ever user the special tool that Mazda has? The one that uses the ring gear as a pivot point to multiply torque?

Any ideas how much that puppy costs?

Husky is NOT made by Craftsman. Craftsman is a great tool and is a 8/10. Snap On/Blue point/MAC are Excellent.

Use the RIGHT tool for the job. 1 inch or thicker breaker bar will beat that bitch *** nut. If not then the impact.
