I have a CP racing Tri-strut bar on my FC. RX-Tuner page 40 last month. I like it... Firstly it was relatively inexpensive and easy to install. It really stiffened the front of the car. The car is VERY stiff. It does however require a little fitting. I had to trim the stock fan blades and relocate several smaller items in the engine bay such as the MAP sensor and fuse box (turned 90 degrees). My biggest beef was the corners of the bar that bolt on the shock towers hit the hood. I simply used a metal cutting blade in my jigsaw and plenty of WD-40 lubricant to cut the corners back. I had the bar painted to match my car when I had the car painted.

Price: A+
Function: A+
Fit: B-
Stiffness: A+
Ease of installation: B

i have both the tri point front strut bar and the four point rear strut bar. i have the front one installed in my 86 gxl. the front end is quite stiff, you can really tell the difference. like said above, i had to trim the fan blades a bit and my fuse box was turned 90 degrees but nothing too hard. haven't installed the rear yet but shouldn't be too difficult. im going to move it (front strut bar) into the turboII pretty soon and install the rear strut bar while im at it. i'll probably buy another for my gxl (red one since gxl is red) since the one i have now is black, and matches the black turboII better. i like it.

I have one of the front bars. You do have to cut the fan blades, but they advertise it as such. Other than that it fit great. I didn't have to move anything. In terms of "ease of installation", I'm not sure what one would expect. You have to losen 8 nuts, drill 4 holes, put bolts through the holes, and tighten 12 nuts.

If you did not have to move anything or trim the fan blades then CP has changed the design. My car is an S4. Maybe that is the difference? I tried 2 different hoods (steel and aluminum) and the bar hit both before I trimmed it.

Yes. The portion of the assembly that bolted on the top of the strut towers had too much materail on the flat plate portion that hit the hood. I rounded the area off by removing about 1/2 in the plate and then it cleared teh hood. Plus the cross portion literally hit the tips of the fan blades. I had to trim all the fan blades slightly. Not a big deal because the tri-strut bar was about $100 on ebay when I got it from CP racing. I really like it but it did take some fitting.

the rear CP strut bar isn't exactly a strut bar. it bolts to the floor (2 holes) and to the sides of the speaker towers, not on the strut itself.

I had the front tri-bar and the rear one. Sold them both very shortly after buying them. The front fit was bad on my car, the two firewall points were like an inch away from the firewall on my s4. I never installed the rear, but it was not designed well, it wasnt centered after bolting to the holes in the floor. One shock tower was farther away than the other. I have the bars from corksport, lots better in my opinion.

Mazdatrix is better, requires less mods, and allows more IC pipe set-ups.

Well i have decided to skip the rear since ite not actually a STRUT bar, but the front seems decent, small problems for a decently small price

Get the front bar. The rear is good for securing things (sub box for me). I was dissappointed that it wasent a true strut bar in the back. I had no problems with the front triangular bar hitting the hood.

I clearly stated that I DID have to trim the fan blades. My signature says I have a '87, so I'm guessing I have an S4.

All cars are not the same. If you measured every bit of the body, most of the cars are going to be out a certain amount in some aspect.

Their stuff being totally *** is a reoccuring theme... I knew I had seen that **** somewhere else before...I just about forgot about this incident..
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...2&page=1&pp=15
About an Eon ago, we all did a group buy for strut bars, and CP racing (guru) came into the group buy pushing his "no modications" stur bars, and condemning our buy for us having to tweak the ears 1/4 of an inch to get them to fit perfectly on about 8 different FC's, how his were so much better and perfect and fit with no problems blah blah blah... Its funny 3 years later, and his strutbars still look and fit like total ***.. They must still be "prototypes"...

I actually didn't have to cut my fan blades for my bar, but I did need to modify my fuse box bracket.
