CP intake...

So... I called around to some places around where I live today in hopes of finding someone who had a kn cone filter in stock. I came across a place and drove there. They sold me a kn style cone filter, made by cp(?). It is similar to this one here . I don't really feel good having it under my hood, as it is just wire mesh and doesn't look like it would have much filtration. My car also died on me twice today after stopping somewhat suddenly. It started right back up, but almost died a third time after rapidly slowing down. When it almost died on me that third time, I noticed that when I did slow down really fast, that my car shut off for a split second, the check engine light came on, and all of my gauges just died--only for a split second, and then my car regained consiousness. It was almost like a short in the electrical system. I have a 1990 n/a. My car did this right after I put the new filter on. So I guess my questions are is my new air filter a peice of crap, should I feel confident with it under my hood, and also why would my car short out like it did? Could it have been caused by the new air filter in any way shape or form? Please help.

Ok when you replaced your filter your MAF sensor plug came loose or is not seated all the way...go back and put the plug on right......And APEXI makes the BEST filter...It's your plug for the MAF hands down...
