a couple S5 motor ??'s

ok i got 3 s5 cores motors today and i noticed one was different than the other 2.
perhaps because it was a newer model or a gxl?
pics.
the oil pan had a extra flap that stuck up.
there was an extra piece of metal on the front pulley.
and there was an extra inlet on the water pump.
just curious on why these differences.
thanks.

Bumps are forbidden here in the 2nd gen technical section. And multiple bumps in less than 24 hours shows a bit of immaturity or impatience. And an insulting bump as you did is even worse.

Your bumps have been deleted. Why do you think your question is more important than any other question here???

and it is hard to tell what motors those water pump housings are even from because of so much left out of the picture, but GXL motors are the same as any other non turbo (although the one housing on the left looks to be from a Turbo - but I can't see enough of it or the others to say for sure or the same about them).

the only reason i bump is because it falls off the first page so fast.
no, insult intended. just when there are 50 people on this forum i figured someone has got to have experience tearing down S5 motors.
my question is more important because it has not gotten an answer.

i stripped all the motors down last night. will post better pics tonight.
im pretty sure it is not a turbo motor but how else could i tell?

No, all S4 and later have 2mm seals standard.

Well again its hard to tell from the pictures, but it appears that the one water pump housing is from a turbo. The one with your extra circle.

Turbo motors are 4 port intakes, while 6 port motors are non turbo. Should be pretty easy to check and see whicha are which.

Then maybe a running revision on the 91, as there were a couple minor changes on the 91 non turbos...

But I am guessing at that point.

well I am guessing again, but I suspect the oil pan has the extra baffle on the 91 motor, as Mazda changed the oil spec in 91 to try and bring up gas mileage at the cost of a little engine life so it might help prevent foaming of the lighter weight oil.

But I traditionally stay away from S5 models so, I am only guessing and by no means should this be considered gospel.
