Couple questions...

1. How do you activate the S5 factory alarm? How am I supposed to know it's activated? How will it be set off? I can't get the thing to go off and I have no idea if I'm even turning it on.

2. The metal plate on the dash that the defrost vents fit into...how does it come off? It's been several years since a I pulled a dash and I can't remember how the thing releases. The vinyl is peeling off of it and I would like to replace it.

you need to lock your door using the inside locks, make sure the trunk and hood are closed. When you close the drivers door, lock it, hold the handle open and close it. A few seconds later you will hear a beep and the security light will flash. It will go off if the door/hood/hatch is opened from the inside without using a key. It will also go off if you set the alarm and reach in through an open window and try to start the car.

Okay that's not much different than my old Supra.

Anyone know about that metal panel on the dash?

should be an 8mm bolt in the center and the rest are just clips you should ply up GENTLY. Use two flat heads not one, spaced probably about 4-6 inches apart.
