A Couple Questions

Hi, I have a couple questions about my recently purchased 1986 RX7 GXL.

1. The throttle sometimes sticks at wide-open, if I depress the throttle a little further (not with the gas pedal, but manually actuate it) it springs back to closed. Is this a problem that can be solved with WD-40, or is it more likely a spring that needs to be replaced?

2. The heater works a little too well. No matter what settings I set on the console it always blows heat in decent quantities (I can make it blow more by turning up the fan speed, but I can't turn it completely off). I took the heater fuse out, but that didn't seem to stop it. What is the most likely cause of this and how difficult is it to fix? I don't care if the heater doesn't work at all, I'm more concerned with not dying of heat exhaustion this summer

Thanks in advance for your help.

Joe

try some wd40 on the throttle body assembly springs and control levers. the heat problem might not be your heater.you might want to check your shift boot insulation. you have to remove the plastic housing then the leather shift lever boot. after you remove all that you will see some rubber inserts at the bottom of the shift lever. check those to see if they are torn, if they are thats where your heat is comming from. if this is your first rex you should know they create a lot of heat.
