Couple exhaust questions...
Couple exhaust questions...
First off, I have a 3" exhaust all the way back from the turbo, don't know anything else about it, honestly....sorry. But whoever put it on, must not have done a great job. I think they stripped some of the bolts of something, because it's in as tight as possible, but it's still "leaking" right out of the start. It's not ALOT, but when the car is on, you can tell it's there. Is that really going to hurt my car? I'm hoping NOT, but I don't know...
And second, I'm wondering if the first problem is giving this off....but when I hit 3k RPMs, my exhaust gets 1.5 - 2x's louder. Like I'm pushing the gas down harder, but I'm not. If I'm not mistaken, the secondaries kick in at 4k or something, so that isn't it...not sure if everybody is having this issue, or if I'm unique on it. And I'm not boosting at the time either. I'm right UNDER boosting, but holding the pedal steady where it's at at 1/4 or so throttle, it will just get a bunch louder at 2900-3000 RPMs...it's weird.

when it gets dark, you can check for the leak with a flashlight and look for somg, then just weld it up,
if you know nothing of what the exhaust has been through, and you notice alot of carbon deposit near flanges, and if threded, the threds might be gone, and that would cauze the flange to warp,
just chop it and weld in a new flange, simple
hope i helped

I guess this will just go to show how dumb I am on this subject, but a flange...is that part of the turbo downpipe? and I haven't noticed any sort of "smog" comin' out of it..I mean, most of the air is still going through the exhaust...I don't know. I just can't screw the nuts in any more...so maybe they are too long. I am under the assumption that I'll just need a new exhaust if this one gets worse
my car got considerably louder around 3k ish rpms. it was a tii with dp/mp and apexi n1 dual catback. also, you maybe able to fix your leaky exhaust problem by replacing the stud/nut with a nut and bolt.
as far as the sound of your exhaust getting 2 times louder...from the 3 different exhaust i have used 2 of them being Racing Beat exhausts , and the 3'rd being an Apex'i dual N1 , thats just how it is... i never thought it was wierd...i just got used to it i guess lol
