Counter Weight Again!!!
Counter Weight Again!!!
Well I've missplaced my info.
I have 93 rotors and RP light Flywheel 17 pounds.
It is now not balanced. The frout counterweight is still an 88. What do I need to balance it.
This is on my 1988 Turbo II.

Do I need the 89 to 95 frount counterweight. If so how hard is it to change it??

The following stolen from the MAZDATRIX site:
Important note on counterweights: The front and rear (or flywheel) counterweights PLUS the rotors make a balanced assembly. The years / rotors we list in the following charts are for PRODUCTION years of the rotors / counterweights! A lot of mixing can be done when building engines, providing the rotors and counterweights match. By this we mean 89-92 non-turbo rotors (lighter weight, higher compression) can be used in an 84-85 13B engine as long as the matching front and rear counterweights are used also, for instance.
Balancing of the assembly is normally not needed, as long as the components are matched.

Thanks,
But it does not tell me what to use with 88 block, 93 rotors and a 17lbs fhlywheel combination supplied by RP. The counterweight supplied with the fhywheel was meant for 88 rotors.

Front counterweight is stock 88.

You will need an '89-91 front and rear counterweight - the '89-91 rotors and 3rd gen rotors are the same weight-wise.
Changing the front counterweight requires removing the front cover.
What are you doing to your car anyhow?

Thanks dale,
That sounds like alot of work. The thing is I gave the performance shop my 93 rotors, used RP 17lbs flywheel and 88 block housing etc. They build me a motor and ported etc.
They assumed I gave them all the correct parts and I assumed they would put the right ones on.
It has a vibration when it idles. It also idles at 1000 to 1200rpm.
I don't have another $5000 for a motor so I would like to fix it but at the sound of things It's beyond what I could do at home.
The shop said it will not hurt my motor though
thanks again Dale
