Question Could you pass emmisions with .......

If you went bareblock on your TII and had to pass emmisions could you do this? Just put your airpump back on and route the outflow pipe to a cat you put in there for the test? Would it pass in that manner?

Depends on where you have to pass. If the car was in good tune, and you leaned it out a little and didn't have to pass a visual, you could.

You also have a PM.

That makes sense. I have nevered lived where there was testing. I am assuming the visual inspection is the first thing done in many places?

only some places have visuals.. they are all different. in cali if you are missing one hose you fail. I don't have one here. I drive in. they stick something in the exhuast pipes. drive it for a min. test done.

Off subject: I just this hour passed emissions in Texas with a two year old Catco and airpump, acv in place. There is but one belt and three bolts holding a airpump on and but three studs holding a acv on the engine.

Gotta go now. Got to put my downpipe and presilencer back on. The airpump and acv stay on. There is nothing to gain by taking them off.

I passed the Etest here in ontario with a brand new ( less then 1000km) 2.5" brullen hiflow stainless cat , on a rebuilt NA S5 with only @ 800km on it.. running rich I still managed a .70ppm HC @ 4000rpm and killed the idle test by more then a factor of 100.

Good question. I personally feel that if it runs clean enough to pass, who cares what the visual looks like. I hope I can find someone who doesn't know what he's looking at under the hood and just passes me cause I can run clean.

Hey Wankel7 are you military? If you are then you should be able to keep your car registered in a different state and claim you live there and you've been based somewhere else. Emmisions test be damned!

p.s. I'm banking on this when I go to Cali next year for the Air Force.

Nah, no miltary for me. I am a pilot just trying to make my way in flying. Not sure where/who I will be working for in the future.

To me I just want to dump the emmisions because it is a royal pain when working on the car. And since I have ABS the ACV makes getting to the turbo that much more difficult.

Well, you could become really good friends with a guy who does the emissions test and try to get him to cut you a break!
