Could no air pump cause flooding? Need help ASAP
Hey! my 87na was doing great the past couple of days but now it floods so bad I have to get a pull start just to get it to run. The only thing different I have done is take the pully off the air pump, my car would flood sometimes for no reason but I cant understand why it is now. How can I check and then adjust the amount of fuel going onto the engine and would running premix be a good idea to perhaps slow down the flooding process? What can I do guys? I need help because this is my only means of conveance. Thanks!

The airpump only pumps air into the cat so it doesnt overheat and dilutes smog so it shouldnt have an effect on flooding. Is you OMP still working? If so and you are also doing premix you could be getting alot of carbon build up from the extra oil in the combustion chamber.

Tips:
Don't touch the throttle when starting. If you do, hold it wide open until it starts to fire up.
Don't start it just to move it a few feet, then shut it off cold. If you must move it a short distance, let it warm up some before shutting it off. An RX-7 even in perfect condition likes to flood after a cold shut down.
Check for a leaky injector(s). The fuel pressure bleed down rate is in the manual.
On your S4, a fuel cut switch will help with unflooding until you can get it fixed.
On an S5, holding the throttle wide open while cranking will give a fuel cut.
