Could I use a 500 lbs hoist for engine?

Hey guys I need a engine hoist and a friend has something at his place that looks different from others I've used. Its a 500 lbs picker and looks like this

Could I use something like this to remove the 13b
I read the engine is 500 lbs
I have removed the engine once but I borrowed a much bigger engine hoist compared to this one

I could always look to buy a used one if this doesn't work for me.

Heaviest 13B is the 13B-REW at ~425Lbs with EVERYTHING on it (most people pull the PS and AC pumps off to the side when they pull REWs).

Next is 13BT at 370Lbs with everything.

Then 13B 6 ports NA at 340Lbs with everything.

A 13B-MSP is 247Lbs with everything as is a 13B NA race engine with full intake, header, flywheel (example, 240Lbs for Mazda sports kit 13B.

An imperial Ton is 2,000Lbs by the way. If its half-ton that would be 1,000Lbs capacity.

Even if it is 500Lbs capacity it will be fine pulling most 13Bs with trans attached or any 13B alone.

I'd mostly be concerned if a small hoist like that has a long enough boom to reach from the edge of the car to the center of the engine. I know a normal engine "2ton" crane I usually have to extend the boom to the max setting to lift the engine out from the front of the car

The weight capacity should be marked at each pin hole for the boom extension. You will need 500lb at the max extension pin. See example:

I'm paranoid so I have a '2-ton' lift that is rated at 1000 lb at the max extension pin. You should be able to borrow or rent one.
