Think about it: make the sides of the rotors iron based... wrap the whole enigne in 4ga copper... heh it might get hot as hell...

Do you suppose they coul have done it to eliminate the need for an alternator?

yeah its not feasible... but just a thought

EDIT: could a mod move this to the lougne please?

That is remotely like what a scooter uses.

I forgot the name of it right now though :/

It is a device that uses leftover static electricity to charge the battery.

old airplanes and such used magneto's to provide electricity, I believe it was the radial prop engines.

Oh dear....

OK, number one, STATIC electricity cannot charge anything. Period, no argument. You CANNOT use static electricity to charge a battery. It is impossible, against the laws of physics....

Now that I have that out of my system...

Yes, in theory the rotary could be made into a huge alternator. You would need to make the rotors out of magnets though, which I'm fairly sure might not be posssible due to the materials required (unobtanium?). You could then wind your coil around the engine. It won't be efficient, especially considering the amount of aluminium and steel between the magnets and your coil...

Might be a better idea to turn the FLYWHEEL into the armature of a motor, and wind a coil around it in the bellhousing. This is what Honda does in their hybrids.

this is a 100% Correct.
Static has its own laws of travel.
Static is drawn to the oposite polarity, no matter what the material may be.
if you dont beleive me, try this.
Find a car with cloth seats, wait for a cold day.
drag your **** accross that seat, (and so it does not hurt) hold one of your keys and dont touch anything geting out of the car. now touch that key to the RUBBER wiper of your side door window and watch what happens. effect is better if you dont use key so you can actually feel it.
