+1 just research and ask questions when in doubt even if you do get flamed on here or other forums. but id deff start with a stockish tII with a pretty straight body and runs good. that way you have a good start with little issues out the gate. then just buy parts here and there and next thing you know youll have whatever HP your looking for.

I know i little about building cars, i never had a t2 thats why i want one but i have had 2 N/A's which one was built pretty decent. I had a 87 NA with a bridgeport, 100 shot and a nice clutch, but that was about it. Heres the deal, i want a decent looking car thats pretty stock i guess something i can work on a bit. If i can find a car thats modded and suits me better then i will have a friend of mine thats a rotary guy go through it real good before i buy it. If i buy a stock T2 i know for sure i can get the engine rebuilt for pretty cheap less then $1000, maybe even free. I have a friend said he will give me one of his haltech computers for it, he has like 5. Also he tunes, also, so i can get it tuned pretty cheap. Injectors and everything im sure i can find somewhere cheap, probably off of here, there are alot of people on this website willing to help, i like that. I just want a car i can tinker with for about a year and have it done early next year. And a friend of mine said he will paint the car if i let him fly my plane so i told him that was cool. Anything to save money. Im sure i will get it figured out soon which route i wanna go.

At least from what I've read a pre-modded car can be a real deal. As long as you understand it's still a lot of work and research to hunt and address any issues to keep from popping your engine. Heck, I'd test drive it hard only b/c the buyer's guides require it then recheck compression before carefully driving home. Then take all the precautions mentioned before driving anywhere else. Make sure the engine is good before you buy (get a buyer's guide and/or mechanic).
Otherwise ya I've heard estimates of $10k to $20k to do it right, and doing it wrong will cost you more in damage later.

Dont hate, and why does it matter if i get free parts are not. Is it bad to want to save some money, i think its quite alright if you ask me. Dont get jealous man, whatever i have left over that i got for free ill give it to you if i dont need it. And its also tru like the other guy said, you can get planes cheaper then a FD, hell you can even find some planes cheaper the FC's. Depends on what you want. Plus when i had my N/A i bought it when i was 19 and sold it when i was almost 23 and now im almost 28 and i have never owned a T2 and since my business is doing decent i have been able to afford a couple things that i have wanted, and a plane was the 1st thing crossed off that list and now i want a T2. Oh also i love those little RC planes, i can do some crazy things with them.

I'm about $14K into mine and not close at all to being where I wanna be. I hate waking up in the morning and seeing my big turbo on a shelf staring back HAHA
Only another 2 grand more to go (install all the fuel goodies and standalone then hit the tuner)
its a process but it was fun building thus far. the compliments alone are worth every penny.
I say find a good straight car then rebuild the motor and entire car to your liking
PS: I would prob take 10K for mine haha
