correct offset for wheels (heh i know it's a nooby question)

Hey guys.

What would the correct offset, front and rear, for 17x8" in the front and 17x9" in the rear?

Really, we could make a damn chart for all this. Wheel width and offset. That way, everybody could just look at the chart.

I think with wide wheels you want maximum of 35 with 30 being typical of larger wheels. Stock is around 40.

i have 35mm offset on my current wheels, 17" and it's almost rubbing on the front, stock height
about two fingers worth of wheel gap in the front

Just keep in mind that backspacing and offset are 2 different things

Backspacing is determined by the offset of the wheel but with each change of width (6,7,8,9 etc.) the backspacing will be different with each width of wheel even if the wheels all have the same offset

Here is a website that has a wheel offset calculator that is a big help in determining what will fit.
