Corksport Type II Nose?

Has anyone installed the corksport/border nose replica and if so are there any modifications that need to be made for it to fit?? Any brackets need fabrication or grinding etc... I'm going to be ordering it soon but can't afford to lay the car up for more than a couple of days (getting my no name JDM side skirts on too, kinda like R-Magic). Is this nose a bolt on, sand and spray affair?? Also, I have a corksport MS style lip spoiler for the 89 style nose if anyone would like to buy it for $180.00 It's never been opened and I would use it but my current 89 style nose (aftermarket crap) has cracked at a mounting point and I dont want to start ******* with fiberglass to repair it and or make new brackets...mazda wants WAY too much for a new nose and the Corksport nose is great looking and affordable. SO, I have no use for this MS style front spoiler anymore. I will send it to corksport for trade in (very nice guys there) unless anyone else wants it ASAP for 20 bucks off...

Thanks,
Jon

hey guys, just to let you know, the cork sport lip is really nice, but be ready to do some adjustments and sanding/grinding for a really good fit, mine has been up on jackstands for abouta week now getting all of the kit put on, but we are grinding it all out to make it fit perfectly......the kit looks really nice when its on.....also you will need s5 parking lights because the s4's dont fit, but other than grinding a few plastic pieces in the splash pan, and sanding the fiberglass smooth its easy to put on......

good luck,

I bought that bumper w/ side skirts not too long ago. I started the sides yesterday. The bumper and sides WILL be properly installed tomorrow. I don't care if it takes me all day, it will get done.

I know of a number of people on here and in town here who have installed those bumpers. They go on with much ease from what they say. The hardest part is taking the stock front bumper off! I don't know first hand though. I have not done it myself.

I'll get back on here tomorrow night and post how it turned out.

The lip is a mold of the mazdaspeed lip, go to corksport.com to see it...
Glad to hear the bumper is an easy effort...I really dont want to lay the car up much longer than a weekend...my GVR4 is in for a Frank turbo and spearco FMIC so it's gonna be a while before I have it back since the shop has been boomin lately...RX takes priority now corbeau seats and harnesses monday though

I got one from them. Just installed it for a week now. And now it just cracked. I would've just spent more money on the real mazdaspeed lip. I guess you get what u paid for.

You just installed the MS style lip?

You do realize they are both fiberglass and have the same probability of cracking, don't you? There is no real differences between the products. That is a pretty decent replica pieces...

Personally, I'd rather have something inexpensive riding just over the ground. Especially in an RX-7 where you can't see the front of the car that well.

yeah but they did a bad job of making it. I've waited two weeks to get it because of excuses. The shipping package wasn't really anything. Justone bubble wrap in the middle in a big box.

And you were expecting a giant steel breifcase with some sort of gel around it so it would not be able to even move?T hat's how body kits are shipped dude. Order a real Border one from Japan... Comes in a big box with wrap around the pieces.

Ligten up dude, it's the most busy time of year for kits.

How did they made badly? I'm curious to know whats wrong. I've seen those on a couple cars in town here. They look fine.

By the way, in Japan I would imagine they actually test fit every part they make. In the U.S. NO ONE does that. NO body piece in the states just bolts on w/ no work. Nothing does. Every piece you buy takes a bit of clean up work.

Sonic, The words you speak are so true. I just need to lightened up. I mean this is my first time buying exterior parts for my car.

The fibers were hanging out. That was the only thing.

Hey, yeah I know what your saying though. Fiberglass sucks!!!! My Type II side skirts I started were just a pain. Making adjustments and what not.

AS for this topic though. I just got done w/ the Type II front. All I can say is like a gloooove!. It fits great. The biggest pain of all in fact is taking the stupid stock one off. I was able to mount the front and get it on there secure w/ out making any adjustments to the bumper at all. It's just on there to get it on now. But I'll be taking it off again and cleaning it up nicely to make it a perfect finished product.

All in all I'm happy w/ the product.

yea, I was impressed with the quality of the MS style lip...Sonic, you just sold me on ordering the nose this week and trading in the lip back to corksport minus a restocking fee...whatever, pays for shipping of the new nose. Fits like a glove is exactly what I wanna hear Once the nose, seats, and JDM FTP lenses are in I'll post some pics for you guys, I don't think anyone has seen my Rex in two years and MAAAN is she a different gal these days...I was also gonna order the Mazdatrix short shifter this week, anyone have any experience with it in this thread??

Don't get me wrong. It's not a take bumper off, put one new on and be done. There is a little clean up work.

This piece is VERY good quality for the price in my opinion. A little work makes you appriciate it more too!

Well, I'd expect to grind some glass away to mate the lines nicely since every car is different (assuming most cars this old have taken a hit of some sort). But I was concerned with mounting points and bracket-making. We just put a new nose on our '79 280ZXT (wish I had pics for you all, you wouldn't believe how well a 280 can look and drive...18's, body kit, skyline FMIC, built motor w/ TEC II, cage...the works) and this nose had NO brackets so we needed to fiberglass them from scratch and make brackets for the turn signals etc... as well. What a PITA!!! Sounds like this should be a relatively easy job and only take a few days. My hood and fenders and current nose are only 2 years old so I'm not worried about paint blending and all that...hopefully it'll be an in and out affair...

Yeah, you don't need brakets w/ this bumper. You'll see when you put int up.

And of course you reduce the amount of mounting points by like 50%.

Sad thing is there is like 6 people here in the Portland area w/ that bumper now...
