Cooling issues?????

So my car is heating up 20 deg more than it should, last 2 summers its never gotten that hot, even on a 100+ day at open throttle uphill. So somethings wrong. I changed the thermostat, mazda replacement still got hot. Checked the radiator, half of it was ice cold (night drive) and the other half burned my hand. So I take the radiator in to get checked. the idiot at Mac's Radiator (who suck by the way but thats another story) said its not clogged cause they can fill it and drain it fast. My water pump has no leaks and its not that old.

At idle it stays fairly cool but not as cool as it used to be. Up by 2 or 3 deg. When I start to drive it, it stays at 180, which it never did especially at night. On the freeway its just under 180, and it never got that hot either. Also when the cars cold the temp will rise and keep on rising, hitting a high of 190+ (Never ever been that hot) then I stop and it drops really quick down to 170 which is what it used to be at, but once i take off again it rises right away. It doesnt matter what kind of driving I do it gets hotter. Any Idea's? It just started doing this recently. Sorry about the long post. Thanks!

If you have cold spots on the raditor, sounds like it clogs, take it to a different radiator shop. Also try flushing your raditor and add some water wetter or purple ice along with a 50/50 water/antifreeze mixture.

Those temps don't sound really horrible, but your radiator is definatley clogged.

Yeah there not bad. I wasnt worried but its not supposed to be that hot, it never has been. Half the radiator is really cold and the other is really hot. But they said its not clogged. Im gonna try another radiator place. Im also going to replace the water pump and belts.

A new replacement rad is only like $100. You got to really appreciate what those Chinese kids can build a all metal rad for. I know because thats all mine cost last summer after I thew a alternator belt into mine last summer at the track.
