Well, if you mean the "cold start assist fluid" bottle that is mounted on the passenger side firewall, that has nothing to do with the coolant. That is just used to inject small amounts of antifreeze into the intake during extremely cold weather starts. (Its worthless, rip it out ) About your problem though, the coolant system probably needs bled. On your profile it says you have a '86 N/A. If thats the car we are talking about, there is a bleed screw on the top left of the radiator, where the upper heater hose comes down and meets the rad. Unscrew this, then add coolant where the rad cap is, till it starts coming out of the bleed hole. Then screw the bleed screw back in, and continue to fill with coolant until full, then put rad cap back on. Now make sure that your coolant resovoir is full (drivers side behind headlight.) This should fix your problem.

Is the light ALWAYS on? or does it just come on occasionally?
If its on all the time, pull the coolant level sensor and test it... (light should go out when tip of sensor is grounded to the chassis) If it is only coming on occasionally go buy yourself a new mazda rad cap....
The same thing was happening to me.... then my cooling system popped... (too much pressure held by cap...)

And hope it's not the same problem I have... (or else you might want to start saving for a rebuild... my engine eats coolant...)

A friend of mine blew his radiator and had a new one put in by a radiator shop. After that the coolant buzzer/idiot light would come on for awhile..and then go off...and then come back on. He took it back to them (I think the work was under a limited warranty) and I think they checked it and told him the sensor connector was corroded. Might be worth checking. Coolant level sensor is on top of the radiator I think (if stock).

yeah, that happened to me. $12.50 for a new Coolant Level sensor and $3 bucks for a new O-ring. Got it from mazdatrix but you need a 40 dollar minimum bill to be put on a charge. Hmm... the Aluminum Rotor Oil Cap looks nice, and so doesn't that Aluminum Rotor Keychain.......

I going to stil get a cap there is a mazda dealer right down the street from my job....I just hate using any DEALERSHIP (aka...The Pocket Rapist). But if that helps than I will. Is the sensor the little black nobby sitting on top of the radiator next to the cap. It has a wire extending from it. Or is much deeper.
