GREEN GOO: A common term usually referring to silicate dropout in cooling systems. Silicate is an excellent anti-corrosion treatment for aluminum. It is commonly used in most American style antifreeze. It normally is invisible in fresh, properly mixed coolants, but certain contaminants in the makeup water or improper blending of the inhibition package can result in the formation of insoluble silicate compounds such as magnesium silicate (due to hard water). These compounds are not dangerous in modest amounts, but become problematic in extreme situations where they can block radiator passages and/or cause water pump wear. It is best to change the coolant and flush the coolant system if “green goo” is observed in significant amounts in the system.

Opinions are like........
Wrong ratios, infrequent maintenance, brands mixing, incorrect type of antifreeze, oil or fuel mixing, stop leak products, other coolant additives..........and the list goes on.
