coolant seal or bad gasket?

okay team ive got to figure this out once and for all, either i need a new motor, or im using the money for a paintjob.
symptoms (since the car blew its last waterpump)
i replaced the pump, but didnt install the housing gasket, since then its been hemmoraging a small amount of coolant, and obviously isnt sealing properly.

symptoms are : overflow tank always full. also whenever i open the radiator cap, there is a good whoosh of pressurinzed air.
i havent actually watched it idle with caps off, but if i start the car for 5 mins, and open the cap after shutting down, small bubbles are visible.

is there any way the bad seal to the waterpump housing can cause ANY of this? especially the "whoosh" part.

ive had no overheating problems to speak of, except when coolant got low awhile back.

edit: i am aware that these signs DO point to bad coolant seals, im hoping that someone can refute this evidence.

A bad waterpump will do nothing more than leak. Excess pressure in teh system has to come from somewhere...the combustion chamber.

Fill the thing up with water, leave the cap off, remove your egi fuses, and crank it while watching the open area...if water is pushed out, it is conclusive that you have bad seals.

Let it sit overnight, then the next day remove your egi fuses and bump the starter a time or 2 very briefly, enough to turn the engine a time or 2 only. Remove your plugs and check for water. Any water at all is a indicator of bad water seals.
