Question Coolant Pudle on driver's side carpit

My carpit is soaked on the drivers side with coolant. The passenger side is dry. But on the driver's side there is a **** load of coolant. I dunno where it's coming from. I check under the car on the driver side and there is no leaks. Does any one have any clues on what it could be?

Heater core or a hose that goes to it.

the heater core would go that far under the car. How would i check to see if those are the reason?

If either of the coolant hoses that lead into the engine bay are not clamped fully, then you will get these symptoms.
If either of the nipples that these hoses are severely mangled, then you will see these symptoms.
If your have a leak in your heater core, then you will see these symptoms.

First check to make sure both of the clamps are tight.
Next, take off the hoses and make sure the nipples they feed are not mengled.

If neither of these are your problem (most likely not), then remove the dash and replace the heater core. A search will provide you a how-to on doing this.
These are all the problems that can exist, so if it is not the first two, it is the third.

damn well i did a visual in the engine bay and i see no leaks and and now hoses obviousely out of place. I would figure if it was one of the hoses you would at least see some steam coming from the coolant being burnt by the engine heat but no smoke, do to i just ran the car hard for a good hour. I do see some coolant smoke coming for the defrost vents here and there.

Heater cores are generally cheap. I usually sell them for $20 or so (when I feel like taking them out of parts cars...what a PITA).

No, I don't have any right now...It's rarely worth it for me to specifically take them out since it involves removing the dash. I only grab them if I have to remove the dash for some reason. And most of them have already been damaged in the past by improper installation/removal of the lines.

For only $88, I would be inclined to buy a new one instead of a used one. Obvious reasons, not the least of which is the annoyance in replacement should the replacement leak...

Well the shop just told me that if if was the "heater core" that i would be leaking on the passenger side. Tehy are guess that it is the "Control valve" that is on the drivers side. which the part would be like $80 from mazda. i think i might just say **** it and by-pass the heater and connect both tubes together. who needs a heater anyways?

Control valve is on the passenger side I believe, but I could be mistaken. Either way, the box has to come out so the dash needs to come out....

The tough/cool guy act wore out in 2 minutes. Go to a junkyard and get one. Otherwise, search the for sale section or check ebay.

One of the rare occasions.... The heater core flow vlavle is located on the driver's side.
Yes, though, you cannot get it out without removal of the dash. A clamp behind everything secures it inplace.

Eh, it's typical on this board, lots of teenage kids who can't spell, think, or take a joke. LOL.

Good luck on your leak, and try to more often.

If you just put in a rebuild, and the clamps are good, I would wager the outlet nipple on the driver's side has been crimped out of round. I have seen it numerous times to cause the exact problem you describe.
