Question Coolant problem?

Recently i have been having the problem where the temp gauge begins to rise dangerously high to where the red light pops on and the fan is engaged.

this only happens when im in traffic or stopped for whatever reason for a bit. but if i start driving or rev the motor up around 1.5-2k, the temp will go down.

sometimes the pain in the *** add coolant buzzer starts up. and that is taken care the same way as the gauge.

what can be going on here? is my idle to low?

HELP!

idle should be at about 750 rpms stock. meaning no Haltech, Motech......etc. might need more coolant, or your radiator rodded out.

I had this problem recently. When i checked the coolant level it was full to the top. I pulled the sensor on top of the radiator and was able to add almost a gallon of coolant.... i guess there was air trapped in there.
