Coolant Level Fluctuation

86 N/A

So I went to fill up my coolant with the car running because the buzzer went off. I took off the filler cap and filled it up. Then I noticed that my coolant level was going up and down about an inch depending on rpm (I have a pulsing idle, ~700-1000).

Is this normal?

Yes, the coolant level will move slightly if there's air in the system as RPMs change.

A better question is, "Why was the coolant level low?"

I have a small leak somewhere. It comes and goes. I'm not terribly concerned about it for now (no time to fix it anyhow...).

I'll probably do that this weekend. I just refilled the coolant so I probably left some bubbles in there.
