Coolant leaking inside chasis

The other day on my 91 NA i was hooking up my SAFC and i notice a drop of coolant just sitting there, i didnt think anything of it. Well a week later i blew my motor, i dont think it was to do with the coolant, the radiator cap was left off, when my friend went to the store =(.

Well im pulling the motor now got me a nice turbo 2 engine for a good price, i drained the radiator, and i had some coolant left over in the upper radiator hose, and it made a huge mess. Well i went to disconnect the ecu, and i see theres coolant everywhere in there, all the wires are dry so was the ecu. It got sucked up by the carpet, and the insulation for the ecu. But this would explain why my driver carpet is always feeling wet.

My question is where could these coolant come from. First my guess is its comming from the rear end cause of the way its seeping up cause behind the seats its moist, but the front is almost dry. And i dont think its leaking from where the wiring harness enters cause thats covered and dry.

Its your heater core.

Replace the core or disconnect the and re-route the lines under the hood.

If you know how to solder plumbing, you can usually fix the heater core yourself.

However, if the heater core is leaking, that implies that your coolant was allowed to turn corossive (Usually occurs if you leave the green stuff in for much longer then its 2 years service life).

That implies that the metal for the lines in the heater core is probably very thin, and fixing it may only be temporary.

Be on the look out for similar issues to occur from your radiator.

oh i guess this is gonna be an adventure...i've never pulled the dash off before haha, and redoing under the hood, what are the pros and cons of this. And if i just plug up the heater core, will i just have no heat, or does it cause more problems??

you can run a new line from the heater core to the drivers side air vents. Run another line into the glove box and attach a funnel. Wash out the heater core and then fill with whatever beverage you prefer. lastly plumb a long straw into your hose at the air vents and you now have cancelled the heater core and made yourself a one of a kind drink bar.
Congrats!

Oh by the way, cancelling the heater core wont affect anything other than not allowing you to have heat in the car as well as wont allow you to use the heater to help cool down the engine when temps get high. But hot damn you can have a custom drink bar!!!
