Coolant leak from weep hole
Ok, so i am puting a rebuilt motor into my project car. I got a used water pump, the old one was toast. I started filling the coolant and i have a leak out of the weep hole on the water pump. I did a search and came up with that the seals are gone on it. My question is what happens if you plug the weep hole, or in this case weep holes. This water pump has one on top and bottom of the cast caseing. I know this probably isn't an option, but I just thought I would check to make sure before I go out and get another pump. Thank you.

Yeah, you need a new pump. The weep holes are there to leak and let you know that something is wrong with the pump. They are designed to do that. If you plug them up, the pump may work for a time but then could completely stop working at the worst possible time. Usually the rebuilt ones you can get at most auto parts stores are reasonably priced and good quality, and they come with lifetime warranties a lot of time. Hope this helps.

That's a really stupid thing to do.
Just replace the water pump.
The weep hole is to tell you the coolant has bypassed the internal coolant seal AND bearing.
Water in bearings - think about it.
There's a reason why it's a red flag to replace the water pump.
If you ignore it, the water pump will seize or sheer.
