coolant leak......please help!!!

After the club's drive to Prescott on Sunday, Monday morning I found this leak. Not severe at all, but, enough to warrant concern. Can anyone tell me what is causing this? What exactly is that black piece that has the hose coming out the top? Thanks for your help in advance.

The black piece is the purge valve, but it is not leaking coolant. More than likely, the coolant leak is from the heater hose at that side of the engine, or one of the hoses that goes to the throttle body.

The only weird thing is that only the black piece, and the bronze colored piece next to it are wet with coolant. I will check the heater hose tomorrow morning.

Ok, I just got done lookin at it more closely, and it definately is that black thing in my pic that is bad, or a valve in there is stuck closed or something. It is the valve with a tube that comes off the oil filler neck. This would obviously also explain my rusty oil filler neck. Can someone please tell me what that is, and what I should seek out to replace it? Thanks.

I guess it is called the "purge valve". How do I go about replacing this? Something my local auto part store might have, or is this a Mazda dealer type part?

You need a new purge valve. It is a Mazda only part. Replacement is very straightforward as all tha tholds it on is a small clip on the back. The old one will brake off, but that is no big deal...

REmember: This is not the source of your coolant leak.
