Coolant Leak not sure where it's coming from

Ok, so yesterday i was driving from Chilliwack to Abbotsord. Drove about 20 mins, went to get off the highway, and as i was doing so, the add coolant light came on. I immediately put the car into a gas station parking lot and shut it down. Looked under the hood, and coolant was spraying out of the coolant line between the engine and the heater core on the drivers side of the motor. I called my buddy in Abbotsford, and he came with tools. We got the line off, and there was about a 1.5" slit in it. Went to Lordco (parts store), got a new hose and clamps, and installed the hose. We refilled the system as high as it would go, started the motor, and continued to add coolant/water as the motor ran. Everything appeared to be ok, coolant level wasn't going down, no warning lights on dash, and temperature was holding where it always does on the gauge. I went to drive the car to my buddy's volleyball game, and the add coolant light came on on the way there. i pulled over, added water, and kept going. By the time i got there, his vball game was over, and they were all waiting for me to get there. Picked up my gf, and we all went to Tim Hortons. My add coolant light came on again on the way there. At tim hortons, i crawled under the car with a small flashlight (yes, i am very skinny lol). It looked like coolant was dripping right out of the bellhousing, steady drip every 2 or 3 seconds. It was also dripping off the very back of the oil pan. Of course it wasn't coming out of the bellhousing, but it was dark so it looked like it. I called Marko at Forcefed, who did my rebuild, and he said it's most likely a line on the back of the throttle body....i did a little researching today and it looks like it goes from there to the rear iron and i have to take the intake manifold off to get at it?

I won't have time to look at this until Monday, but in the meantime does anyone have any tips or advice? Maybe confirm that it is this hose? Any other places it could be leaking? Like maybe there actually is a small crack in the bellhousing, and coolant is getting in there somehow (back of engine?) and dripping out of the bellhousing?

note: when i drive the car, and the rpm's go above 3200 in ANY gear, i can hear a pissing sound, like the coolant is spraying against the firewall or something... this would lead me to think it actually is this hose. Anyone confirm?

also, i cannot see any coolant leaks from the top of the engine bay looking down. i felt around any coolant hoses i could find, none were wet.

thanks guys,

dk

you are just going to have to get under there and find it man, no one can search for it for you. If it is one of the lines going to the throttle body then you may have to remove the manifold, but i don't think you do if it's the lines I'm imagining.

i know there are two lines coming up to the UIM to the throttle body along the passenger side of the engine bay. They are very small and hidden just a little bit; they are a bitch to get to, remove and get put on due to the bends in them.

ok, so big leak was from the hose that we replaced. the generic hose from lordco wasn't going onto the nipple properly. i have a replacement hose now. everything is hooked up as it should be. no leaks anywhere in the engine bay.

buut- i'm still very slowly losing coolant. and my windows fog up. guessing heater core. i can't really smell coolant inside the car though, and no carpets are wet, which is weird.

anyway, i'm gonna bypass the heater core for now. any ideas on where i can get pipe to run between the two hoses in the engine bay? thx

I have this very same problem man . I have no leaks under the hood and I can smell coolant inside the car now and then so I am opting for the heater core . I am gonna put a new one in then fill up with the lisle funnel . I am loosing coolant very slowly overtime as well . Good luck to ya

also, as you said rebuild.. check an see if u have NA or Turbo housings.. turbo housings have coolant passages that need to be capped with frost plugs.. they go to the LIM and will cause almost exaclty as you described. took me months to figure it out because have an NA, but it had been rebuilt with turbo housings. take off your LIM an see if there arent two coolant holes with disintegrating O rings in em on your housings. If so plug them *******
