Coolant Leak/Flush

Hey guys, i have owned my first rx7 for a whole day now and i've already got the radiator pulled and the upper and lower radiator hoses off...

Anyways everything seemed fine until this evening the add coolant alarm went off.. so i decided to start checking for leaks, well in the mist of checking for leaks i can to find a nasty, stinky, disgusting, rusty brown liquid was in my motor and radiator, so i pulled the radiator and flushed it out real good with water, tomorrow im going to drain the block, and refill it all with fresh coolant.

Anyways i pulled the upper and lower radiator hoses and they both look good, and theres no sign of leakage up top where the coolant goes into the motor, so my question is before i put it all back together where else should i check, or while its all apart anything else you guys would recommend replacing while im in there?

Lastly, if i fill up the radiator while its out, and cap all the hose outlets, and nothing is coming out then my radiator is good to go correct?

Thanks for the help!

If it's THAT bad, I'd get a new radiator. They're not that expensive especially stock replacements. Using your old radiator, fill and drain until it's clear then replace with a new unit.
The radiator probably is partially clogged by now.

When summer rolls in, you need the radiator in top shape.

Ok, well last night i pulled it in the garage and took the hood off so i could really see in there, pulled the fan out to get a better look, determined it was leaking from the bottom of the water pump, so i pulled everything to get the water pump out and sure enough a big chunk of the gasket was gone. My question now is should i be fine to just replace the gasket? or should i go ahead and replace the whole pump?

Definitely replace all the rad hoses, the little heater hose near the rad, and the water pump. You'll thank me when you don't have to pull it all apart again.

I have also have a coolant leak. Although mine is at the thermostat gasket. I ordered an new gasket. Just wondering if your car was blowing white smoke. Because mine was. Just want another diagnosis of the white smoke being the coolent leak.

Gonna Flush the system once i got the gasket.
