Coolant Leak?

Hey I think I may have a coolant leak? Its not puffing out smoke so its not burning it and its not in the oil and I cant see any drips? I bought some stopleak but can I use it on a rotary?

Want to tell us a bit more? Why do you think you have a coolant leak? I assume you are adding significant amounts of coolant on a frequent basis and, therefore, suspect a leak? Coolant doesn't evaporate at any significant rate so it is going somewhere. Since you don't see clouds of whitish smoke coming out the exhaust pipe, and you don't see it in the oil, it is leaking.

You'll have to do a little searching to find the source. Even though you don't see any dripping, doesn't mean there isn't a leak. It may only leak when the engine is running above idling rpm for instance, or it may be pooling on top of the engine, so look for greenish (or whatever the color of your coolant) traces on the sides of the engine between the housings, and look for puddles of coolant on top of the engine around and under the intake manifold. Also, crawl under the car and with a flashlight check the front of the engine where the water pump is located. There is a weep hole at the bottom of the water pump where coolant will leak out when the water pump starts to fail.

IMO, stopleak is not a good idea.

The heater core might be an area to check.

Ok, well Im doing my clutch right now so when my flywheel gets back Ill check that peephole, I forgot all about how those will come out when the pumps going out, I dont currently have carpet in it either and do not see any puddles around the passenger side. When I get it back up and running Ill let it get to operating temps and check everything again.

Don't use any sealing products. They'll just clog up the system. Find the leak and repair it.

If it were leaking in and around the engine, you would smell it burning on the hot engine after running the car awhile.

If the heater core was leaking, you would have a wet carpet.

If you have any inner coolant seal leak, there isn't going to be big, huge clouds of white smoke. What does the exhaust smell like. You can tell the sweet smell of burning antifreeze...just don't smell too long.
