Coolant hoses

I'm going to replace all the coolant hoses in my car. Which clamps should I use, the original stock ones or should I get new universal hose clamps. Do I need to use some kind of seeling compound on the sleeves??

Thanks,

Marco.

I would use universal ones. 14 year old clamps tend to get a little weak. And no, there should be no reason to use a sealant. The next time you go to take them off, it would be even harder than before.

Be careful with the discount auto parts store hose clamps. Buy a quality clamp. Peguses (-5 SP) racing has them

uhmm... just about any ghetto clamp is gonna do it... go to a hardware store, buy the screw type pipe clamps (stainless if you can find it..) and use that, just cut it to size... just be careful not to overtighten the clamp... it can cause leaks...

but there is no real point in "investing" in "quality" clamps... a clamp is a clamp is a clamp....

(your looking at about $0.50 a piece for the ghetto hose clamps..)
