Angry Coolant hose Under Throttle Body Remove/Install Tricks?

Ok, everyone know that 90 degree coolant hose that lives under the throttle body? It goes from the block to the throttle body.

(1) whats it for?

(2) can it be removed or relocated or rerouted or something to make it easier to put on or take off??

(3) Who the hell decided that would be a good place to put a coolant line?!

(4) Was he a mutant with hands like a octapuss?!!!

Everytime I remove the intake manifolds from any 2nd gen this gets me. It hurts my back, my hands, my knees, etc. and I was just wondering if there was any tricks or somethings to make this step a little easier....besides cutting it

Thanks,
Ryan

1) flow thru for the thermowax, then on to the BAC, then to the water pump housing
2) you should be able to remove just the connection at the TB(I know, it's a bitc# for hand clearance), leave the hose connected at the rear housing, if you're removing the TB/ intake, it doesn't get in my way
3) a guy that speaks Japanese and calls himself an engineer...
4) probably not...

It's just a hose. As long as each end is connected to where it should be, you can put a 20' length of hose on there with a connector in the middle so you can disconnect it while sitting in the driver's seat if you want to. Hopefully you can come up with something a little more elegant though.

The first time I took my UIM off I just cut the hose and replaced it. I also replaced the squeeze clamps with screw clamps, as it's a lot easier to loosen them with a racheting screwdriver with a small socket than to muck around with a pair of pliers. Once everything is disconnected and unbolted you can lift and pivot the UIM up and backwards, loosen one screw clamp and slide the hose off. It's quite quick easy once you figure it out. Adding another piece of hose with an accessible connection in between as I suggested above will make this even easier.

Don't listen to anyone who recommends removing the thermowax just because it makes UIM removal easier. You seldom need to remove the UIM, but the thermowax is useful every time you start your car cold. And it's just not that hard!
