FL Coolant Hose

Riding home from work in my S5 'vert.
And the"add coolant" buzzer comes on, I pull into a gas station parking lot less than 100 feet away. Open the hood and there's that familiar sickly sweet smell that heralded the rupture of the radiator (plastic metal seam) on my E30.

Long story short. The Coolant hose that connects to the block underneath the oil filter decided to simply "pop" off. She's home and all fixed up after about an half an hour in the parking lot.

Had planned on it after flushing my coolant/fluids tomorrow while she was on the lift. I'd suppose the bright side is that I don't have to flush my coolant in the morning..

Anyone have any thoughts as to why she just blew off?
and as a preventative measure should I just go ahead and replace all my hoses?

Loose clamp, overpressure in the cooling system, hose deterioration over time, yada, yada, yada. Should be easy to figure it out. If the hoses are old, replace them. It's cheap insurance.

Be aware, though, that replacing the hose that connects the BAC valve to the top of the engine will likely require removal of the upper intake manifold or throttle body.

That hose swells and deteriorates when you spill oil on it, from changing the oil filter.

It should be replaced every couple of years if you spill at all when changing the oil and probably should be changed any time you purchase a FC and do it's first tune up.

I have posted pictures on this before... I'll see if I can find them and post them up again.
