Coolant hose

Ok, I'm rather new to this site and hope some of you can help out.
I was going to get some gas today and add a bit of oil etc. etc. and i hopped in my car and put it into ACC why i don't know but thank god i did. The car started its usual beeps and then started screaming, add coolant came on. I popped the hood to discover the main metal line coming from the radiator, after the silicone, going to the block, had a gash and was leaking through the screws. I'm assuming i need a new pipe... What is the part called and where can i find one that won't cost an arm and a leg??

I think that you're describing the coolant filler neck/thermostat housing ("thermostat cover" in the Factory Service Manual.)

They should be pretty readily available; you don't specify whether you have an S4 or S5; turbo or non-turbo. Here's a link (with picture) to an S4 Turbo version on eBay for $24 plus shipping; that should be the most you pay.

yeah, if youve got an S4 NA, you can get one for $5-10 bucks on the used parts section on here. good place to look for stuff like that.

I think its an S5, but its not a turbo. I actually worded it wrong, its not the filler neck but the other part coming from the block itself.. Heres a picture.

The gasket for the part is destroyed and there was a bit of a crack in the side of it. The engine has never overheated, just old I guess.

well there are a couple things that Hold Coolant on the Engine. One being the Water Pump..Now,On an S4,there is a Small hose that comes off the Radiator, and goes to a Steel(hard) Pipe, that runs along the Passenger side Fenderwell and then behind to the Heater Core,I believe.IF you are looking ON the Top of the Engine then there is the Water Pump housing, and then the Thermostat, and Filler neck(that has Either a Rad cap,or directly onto the Upper Rad hose)..IF YOU tell me which area It is or better yet the Part..I can tell you the Part # and you can get it from Madza(they are not that bad in Price..really.).pm me if you want.I don't mind.

You didn't word it wrong. On an S4, the thermostat cover is also the filler neck. You do have an S5, where it's just the thermostat cover:

That pic is from this 915 Racing eBay auction; they want $40 plus shipping, but I'm sure you can pick it up for less in the forum, plus a gasket from your favorite auto parts store.

yep. just sit and read the FAQ, that is an awesome place to learn things you never thought you would know. also, go to RETeds site, Aaroncakes site, and pineapple racing has some good stuff too. lots of neat things you can learn about RX7s and rotary engines.
