hey guys I have a little problem and hope it's a easy fix but that just wouldn't be my luck.anyway my 10th A.E. started having a water leak.the buzzer would come on every few days and would need to top it up.I checked everything rad, hoses couldn't find any leaks.so I started breaking down engine and when I removed the lower intake manifold. I noticed that the gasket was really wet and water had been leaking there.I replaced the little o rings and put everything back together.

I was in the middle of adding a new turbo so the car has sat for about a year.so after a year I sent the car to someone that I know that works on rx7s to wire up everything for the new setup. he had the car for a few weeks and calls and tells me that he found coolant in the oil when he changed the oil.so he just stopped working on it sent me a bill of 400.00 and brings the car back to me.he told me that the water must have froze in the engine and caused a crack in the engine plate and water must be leaking in there.I know that I didn't have just water in there to freeze up and do this.after reading some I'm thinking it maybe the freeze plugs.because back when I removed the lower intake there was signs of water leaking there.could I be right and if so what can I do to check these and replace them?

any help would be great.tks

Well the freeze plugs are just there to relieve the pressure off the block if it does happen to freeze, they do not in any way prevent coolant from going into your oil pan. If you have coolant in your oil you have other problems than just freeze plugs like a leak in the engine somewhere (cracked block like your friend said) causing the coolant to get where it's not supposed to. Only way to truly know is to tear into the engine.
