Convince me to go FC.
OK - this should make your decision a little easier.
I bought a copy of WHEELS magazine last month - a magazine which reviews all the new cars and performance tests them all with comparisons etc. Every month they review a second hand 80's sports car for those of us who can't afford a new car.
Last month they reviewed the 88 Supra Turbo.
In the conclusion - it said - and I quote: "....but if you must have a 2-door Japanese car, buy an 88-92 RX7 turbo. It is at least a real sports car, handles twice as well, and is quicker still."
Does that help?

Ok, time to convince. Turbo Supra VS NA RX-7
Winner...
Appearance: RX-7
Handling: RX-7
Weight: RX-7
Weight Distribution: RX-7
REVolutionary design: RX-7 (I've got a thing for rotors)
No Pistons, Cams, Valves, lifters, Heads, head gaskets, pushrods, valve covers, etc: RX-7
Straight Line Acceleration: Supra (Until you mod the RX-7)
Friendly and Helpful Fellow Owners: RX-7
But seriously, before owning my RX-7 I drove Mid-80s american RWD cars, the handling of a stock RX-7 is amazing. I have never driven a supra, but I've played enough videogames to know which late 80s-early 90s japanese sports-car is considered the best (the Turbo RX-7).
Well, my $.02

A Turbo Supra will spank an NA RX-7 in a straight line. Now curves... well, the Supra is heavier and "cushier" so I'd take the RX-7. Grassroots Motorsports got 1.0x G on a STOCK TII with nothing more than an alignment and sticky tires. That's it. Here are links to the articles:
