Convertible top problem

I finally invest in a new top for my 88 convertible. As soon as the guy takes the top off of the car, we discover that the bar that bolts the top to the back of the car is completed rusted. Having a time finding a replacement part. Any body parting out a vert? Anyone have a solution? Anyone had to fabricate part?

If it is just rusty, I'd just say close enough good enough and reuse it. Completely different story if it is falling apart though.

When I replaced my top I had the same problem. i just sandblasted it and painted it. There were a couple pretty rusted out spots, but it worked well enough.

you could filly in some of the rusted away spots around the corners with some welding.. i was lucky enough to be able to sand and paint mine.

The forming bar hasnt been available for quite some time. Im guessing it took up too much room for a fragile part. Work with what you got chaces of finding another one and it being shipped safely are pretty slim
