convertible top problem

my 88 vert has developed a weird problem. every time you start to drive the car, the beeping sound for the top comes on. if your at a stop it wont do it, but as soon as you start to drive it does. if i move the car with the ebrake up, the top will go down. what could cause this. the control switch works fine both directions
