convertible switch not wanting to catch. IVE SEARCHED!!!!

Hi, I drive a 1988 vert.

My power convertible switch doesnt seem to catch all the way to engauge the motor to open it. It just keeps clicking around. What do I need to do to fix this little booger.

clicking??? The switch does not click or catch. It is a momentary switch that you turn on the 88 and 89 convertibles.

Perhaps more details???

like when I try to twist it back to open the top, (electric), it feels as if it doesnt catch anything. It just keeps spinning around. Would somthing be loose inside?

the electric motor worked find right be4 this happened (about a week ago)

nm i found it out... the plastic covering was cracked... making it feel like it was just turning freely. all fixed
