Question Constant ANNOYING beep. I want it gone....

I understand the RX-7s have a beeping sort of alarm system for vehicle maintnance, but thier is something up with my beeping.

It mainly happens when i turn the steering wheel to the right ever so slightly, and from thier it will just keep beeping. Its just a constant, solid tone.

The easy fix is remove the fuse for the stupid alarm system thingy. But what is the real problem on my hands? In the meantime, can anybody tell me what fuse this beeping is? Thanks!

Is this a beeping which the car does or a buzz?

The car is set up to buzz if the oil is low or the coolant is low. Since yours occurs while turning, chances are it's a low oil situation as the oil gets pulled away from the sensor thus creating the buzz, but it's either of the two possibilities.

i'm going to guess its your power steering control unit.
Its mounted to the underside of the dash. I think right on the steering column. Large clearish plug going into it... Unplug it. Buzzing stops.

Unless there is something that we are missing from this whole equation???

Thats exactly what I suspected. Also that thier is a sensor in the steering wheel i heard? I will admit, the oil is low, and about to change it. Had no idea rotarys go through oil like my GT Mustang goes through gas :p.

Ya, that too, just not use to 'topping off' the oil, rather than just doing the usual oil change :p.

The steering sensor should create a beep and not a buzz when it alerts you of a potential problem.

Just an update, it was the oil level! Sure enough, the previous owner only had 2 quarts in it! I went ahead and filled it up and the buzzing is completely gone.

Holy cow...I check my oil twice a week...I'd be terrified if I heard that buzzer. Atleast now you know!

Actually a failed PS Computer will create a constant buzz. It won't be in the same pitch as the oil lover or coolant level buzz, it will be in the pitch of the beep.
