considering rebuild
my 86 rx GXL na has 140 000 kliks on her, all orig. she has pull, and drives smooth, mechanic gave her a thumbs up. the thing is i am dying for more power. i was thinking of going to a street ported engine, new or rebuilt. what kind of improvement would this be? i already have magnaflow dual exhaust with one cat, she has blown out though, and am considering (against all reports that doing so doesnt change performance) buying the K&N HIPK airflow. what would be the best way to see just a little more torque out of my car? where can i find street ported rotaries in vancouver?
thx

unfortunately the only decent amount of tq you can get is from boost. Everything you do will add tq but no where near the amount of hp. A SP will give you around 15 to 20hp.

Well it's quite complicated. Mazda did a very clever trick when designing the second gen engines. It is a mechanical marvel. As you will soon find out during your rebuild an FC has a specifically designed engine with a drain system that will drain as much money from your wallet as it can. Most likely more than you can give. J/k. In other words, to see some horse power and feel it too, you will want to upgrade many things as all parts work together. an example, putting a bigger exhaust on with a stock manifold is like letting the car breath out great, but breathe in through a straw. All stock parts work together, and most aftermarkets work best the same way.
