Confused with wheel sizing.

Im getting confused with these numbers, I need to buy a new set of wheels and I was looking at these for my s4 vert.

Size: 17x7.5
Offset: 40mm Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:215/45-17
Lightweight: 20.6lbs.

Can anyone tell me if these will fit on my S4 vert? Im having troubles using the FAQ numbers.

if you have coilovers. Stock gxl wheels are 15x7 +40. the extra 1/2in will prolly make them rub. Not 100% sure though.

Yeah I was worried about that problem also. I guess I will keep looking for smaller ones.

Stock GXL wheels are 15x6. I have S4 and S5's to prove it.

Those will fit no problem on any stock 7. My vert came with 6.5" wide wheels with 205 section tires. Your chosen tire size is a 215 section. That is only 10 millimeter wider than my stock tires. That is 5 millimeter wider from the tire centerline to each side. Nothing to worry about. Your chosen wheel size is 1 inch wider than my stock wheels. So it will sit 1/2" closer to your strut and stick out 1/2" closer to the wheel opening. Again not an issue. For the back wheels there is a lot more room to play with. I have calculated that an 8", 35 mm offset wheel fitted with 225-45-17 for the front and 245-40-17 for the rear are close to the maximum sizes for stock suspension. If you have lowered your suspension then you should be running camber adjusters to properly set up your driving dynamics. By doing that you are also by default improving your tire to suspension clearances.

No such thing as a stock 15x7 wheel.

I ran 17/225/50 on my 88 gxl with DTSS. Fills the gap nicely and never rubbed.

20.6lb 17x7.5's are far from being light. Those are heavy wheels and the handling and acceleration will suffer. If you can get lighter wheels.

****, 225/45/17's fit up front, and 255/45/17's fit out back, no rubbing.

Some guys are using wider than that with just simple fender rolling.

^ Yea, but with lower offsets. My 17x8's with 225/45/17's were pretty close to my stock suspension and are pretty close to the coilovers, and I've got a 30mm offset.

Yes, but they are dual dilled. I am not a fan of dual drilled wheels. Don't know why.

FYI- Those are the same size as the stock wheels. You need to make sure they will clear the factory calipers. Also, your stock BBS wheels probably weigh ALOT less.
