Confused about spark plugs

I'm wanting to change my spark plugs. So I went to advanced auto parts to see what they could provide me. I went to the counter and was told that they would have to be ordered and that the plugs are $37 a piece!! I went home and got online and found on a few websites that they are still $34-$37.

Well I just went to NGKs website and found leading and trailing plugs for $7 each... what's the difference here? Am I missing something?

Adavance Auto Parts should sell NGK's for the '7 at less than $10 each. Maybe they misquoted, you misheard, or they only gave you their really expensive part price.

Not quite sure why you bolded Advanced and spelled it differently but I just went on their website and found them... I'll have to make a quick stop back in there.

Because I figure either you misspelled it or you're at a cheap ripoff store calling itself something close to the name of another well known chain:

Are those aftermarket HKS spark plugs any better?

Gotcha, you added the 'a' after the d in advance so I wasn't sure what that was about. Sorry about that. I've always just said advanced being shorthand for advance auto parts.

Thanks, it's been a long day

HA! Thats what you get for being a smartass.

I'm thinking they quoted you the price for the platinum tipped plugs used on the 3rd gen? You should not pay more than 7 bucks for the regular ones.

Recalling what happened. They were iridium plugs and it was autozone not advance auto.

No.

Why do you feel you need to get HKS spark plugs?

I was actually going to post and just ask if NAPA has them. There's a NAPA right around the block from my house.

I actually just stopped by advance after work yesterday and was told that they didn't have any in stock. Ordered two of each and figured I'd just have to wait till next week. Wrong. They came in this morning at 7:30. Awesome! I love it when car shops get parts next day early morning.

So there's a Napa right around the corner from you and you decided it would be easier to post on the forum than actually go there and/or call them?

Stick to NGK Plugs...you can use the platinums on FC's no problem, but I've heard the regular ones are less prone to screw up with deposits. I'm going to search the forum because I should change mine about this time.

NGK BUR7EQ
NGK BUR9EQ

Non-platinum stock plugs

Has anyone dabbled w/ the NGK Iridium series that Racing Beat recommends? ie, BR7IEX?

Well seeing as how autozone wanted $37 dollars a plug, I wanted confirmation from the people that actually drive a rotary.

Sorry if I clogged up your forum with my spark plug question.

Y'all know you can go directly to the NGK website & order plugs directly from them... I think the platinum's are $7.60 each, & the standard resistors are only $6.50 each.

I'm still curious about anyone taking the Iridium challenge, as per Racing Beats recommendation.

I went to get some plugs from autozone and they insisted the rotary doesn't use spark plugs.

So I went to Advance and got a set of 4 for under $25 for my FD.

Same thing happened to me (advance auto parts thing too)... except when they looked it up they wanted to sell me $37 plugs.
