Compatibility questions!
So, between an 88 convertible, and an 89 convertible, I want to know if these parts are interchangeable. For those that I annoy by this question, I'm sorry, but it's just easier for me to type this out than to search. I'm in the middle of moving, and a little busy.
Convertible top?
and how much of a pain in the *** would the top be to take off/ put on? Would I risk damaging the vanvass by trying a change?
Drive shaft?
Transmission?
Fenders?
FTP lenses?
Tail lights?
I have the 88, and I'm about to by the 89. I am thinking of taking the parts from the 88 and putting them onto the 89, or at least knowing if I can keep the 88 parts for spares on the 89.

Sweet. I had the feeling, but I had to check and see if anyone knew something I didn't.
I just found an 89 convertible with 61k on her clock. With the exceptions of a couple tiny dings, and a tear in the top, the car is nearly immaculate. I never realized how much of a difference you can feel between s4's and s5's.

no, you can't, but my s4 happens to have only 70k. Cosmetically, the s4 is just as "well maintained" as the 89, but the engine is gone. It had a bad coolant seal. Bought it that way, unknowingly. It ran great, really, for the last six months. Always pulled fine, and seemed full of spirit, til one day plumes of steam started pouring out of the pipes. Haha.... I new it would happen eventually.
It's just strange, two bone-stock rx-7's, and the only few 'horses' difference between the engines just seems so noticeable. Are the gears shorter on the 89? They seem to be, but I haven't payed much attention to the rpm's yet..... I must say though, I do also notice the difference between the suspensions. I liked the tighter set on the 88. I might just decide to swap that over too... haha.....
My buddy told me I coulda spent way less just getting the s4 rebuilt. But dammit, I wanted as s5, lol. And I'll still fix the s4....
