Well
I finally made the leap to actually be a member of the site. I was kinda stalkerish too, at first, because I would read all your discussions without joining. Well, anyways, I've had my '90 FC for a lil' over a year now but only drove it from February to october last year before I finally decomissioned it for the winter by cancelling the insurance and getting a car cover for it to sit for a while. I was at college anyway and didnt need it. I got a steal on it when I first purchased it and it is a smooth running 5 speed with a hummmmmm to make you die for. The body was in decent condition, as was the interior. But I got the Frankenstein of all paint jobs. It got worse and This is what happened to it, though, after it sat all winter....

So here I am on spring break with all the money I saved up from busting my *** without wasting much on my car, and I finally took it to the body shop to be repainted and have a little body work done.
But now I've got another headache. The automatic driver side seatbelt is broken. The motor runs but the cable popped out, and pushing it back doesn't help. I found out that there was a recall for all 90 and 91 seatbelt contraptions in 96 because they all have the problem, but to have the work done, I've gotta drive an hour away to my nearest certified dealer. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do? Thanks. I need to figure out something soon, cuz I wan't it on the road when I get out of school in may and I know I can't pass inspection without seatbelts.

You can not post pictures from your harddrive unless the computer is always on, connected to the internet etc.
You would need to attach the picture or post it on a webhost.
Just make the drive and get the dealer to fix the belt. Its either that or replace the belt with a non mouse belt from a S4 or Canadian S5.

2. go to the dealer
3. if you are too lazy then use a hex tool and turn it until the seatbelt is in the SECURE position
4. will S5 Vert seatbelts fit?
Thanks for the advice. I know the dealer has to fix it for free (to me) but they will charge Mazda for the fix. The problem is, however, that it must be a certified dealer an hour away and I need a car registered and insured to make a drive like that, and I'm not paying to have it towed. The good news, though, is that when I get plates again and insurance, I get a 10 day period (with a temp inspection) to get my car inspected. If I make the trip real early, like the day after, I can have it fixed and inspected in the ten days. I really like how you told me I can hand crank it back, cuz i wasn't sure what that little plastic cover thing was behind my seat. I will do that when i get my car back from the shop in a few weeks, all shiny and new looking. I will get a photobucket.com account for posting some before and after pics too. Thanks for that as well. I can't tell you how friggin awesome it is to find so many people like me with the same lame problems with their FCs and such. It never stops us does it though. We rotorheads need a way to get away from the rest of the world's "puckuta-puckuta" and into our own "vruuuuuummmmmmmmmmm." You've all been so helpful.

By The Way... 3 things
1. Does anyone with an FC from NY know if there are any new problems with inspection now that they have to plug your car into DMV HQ? It would be great to know ahead of time to save some $$$
2. I'm getting the factory Mazda white refinished on my 7 but I want to get a Bra (front end mask) for it to protect the front. I know they look good on the caucasian 7's but does anyone know if I should go with a different brand than LeBra for a better fit?
3. What would ya'll reccommend for a great fitting custom car cover? ie. brand and such, cuz I don't have a garage and the weather is nasty here in the winter and most of the year. I want something reasonable, like the $100-130 that will look good and protect best.
Thanks and cheers,

Here's my baby

And the paint failure. I call it frankenstein!!!

We'll just call this before and soon I'll have some after's. Let me know what ya think, cuz the car was free but I had to pay $1200 to get it shipped to my house from NC cuz I couldn't go get it myself. So I guess you could say it cost me $1200.

Well I'm on my own but it's being taken care of. One thing I'm pretty sure is, this is not a Mazda job thast I got. It was a shitty one stage done by the guy that owned it before me. He could get away with it though because he lived in North Carolina where a frost closes schools and he kept it in an old airplane hangar.
The adhesion primer that Mazda used failed in a short period of time. You have a stock Mazda paint job. Earl Schieb would do a better job.
My question is....has anybody taken this **** to the dealer and gotten a paint out of it.
