Coming back after 2+ yrs for some hating/finishing my turbo vert

My 90 Turbo vert has been sitting for just over 2 years..hell maybe going on 3 years.

Obligatory pic

90 vert with Rtek 1.7 on an N370
S5 turbo tranny and S4 turbo differential
OEM turbo and RB REV TII full exhaust
Custom TID and Apexi powerwhatever cone filter
FD fuel pump, OEM primaries and 800 secondaries
Hallman manual boost controller
Aftermarket boost, wideband, water temp gauges
Atkins apex seals, FD corners and springs, new side seals/springs

Lost all compression on the front rotor, I borrowed a scope from work, stuck it in the spark plug hole and saw a gash on one of the rotor faces

It had under 2k miles on a fresh rebuild (by me). It had good compression though I don't remember the numbers at the time(somewhere around 95-100). Though I do remember it having a lil difference in PSI bumps between front and rear, maybe 5-10 psi (but this is all off memory). I bring that up because engine would run awesome on fresh spark plugs and as I was putting miles on them the engine would run worse and worse. Change the plugs and it'd be good for 3 weeks or so of daily driving. IIRC I read something about too large of a difference between compression on rotors can cause plugs to foul...is this true?

I remember it idling rich but don't remember those numbers off hand.

I was also fighting electrical problems. I suspect I had poor grounds and I had burned wiring on driver side main harness which I may not have fixed properly (don't judge) Charging system was killing Optima Yellow Tops from a suspected amp drain.

I'm going to be off work for the next 2 months recovering from surgery. Trying to get the engine pulled before surgery so I can muck around while I've got free time. If tearing down the engine is too much activity I'm hoping I can at least climb in the empty engine bay and work on my wiring.

Plan moving forward is to ditch the Rtek and possibly go MS3. I'm not sure on rebuild. I may send it off to be rebuilt what with the scarcity of rotary internals. Money is an issue ATM. I've had shitty health for the last 2+ yrs and been to lots of doctors for lots of tests. You think rotaries are an expensive hobby, you should try basic health care!! Medical bills and paying for everyday life while bringing home less income will mock my rotary plans. BUT the hope is that I'll be healthy after surgery, have a plan for my rotary and be able to start moving forward once I'm off medical leave.

You sound like you have pretty positive attitude given the circumstances, and that'll help your situation a lot. Best of luck to you, take it one step at a time and you'll get it all sorted and the turbo vert flyin' down the road in no time. Top down, boost up is a wonderful thing
