Cold start fluid?

Cold start fluid?

What exactly do I buy to put in the cold start fluid, mine is almost empty.

Nothing.

Remove the system and plug the vaccuum nipple on the manifold. Mazda issued a TSB to all it's dealers with instructions to do so.

The system is useless, and most of them never worked. The fact that yours actually seems to function is rather shocking.

do you know the year they came out with that TSB? I could only find info on the 89-90 model year for the Sub Zero Starting Assist Device

DESCRIPTION

Installation of the sub-zero starting assist device on the subject model has been discontinued since the August 21, 1989 production. In accordance with this design change, the configuration of the oil pan, extension manifold, and intake manifold have been modified. If replacement of these parts becomes necessary, please keep the notes below in mind.

PARTS INFORMATION
NOTES FOR PARTS REPLACEMENT

1. Oil Pan - w/ & w/o Turbo

The new oil pan has no mounting eye for a thermo switch. Therefore, discard the old thermo switch and wrap the connector with electric tape to prevent a short circuit.


2. Extension Manifold - w/o Turbo 3. Intake Manifold - w/ Turbo

Remove and discard the following parts: Remove and discard the following parts:

b) Starting Fluid Hose b) Starting Fluid Hose
c) Starting Fluid Tank c) Starting Fluid Tank

IMPORTANT:
This bulletin is a revision of Service Bulletin Category 4, no. 072/89. Please reference this bulletin when using your 1989 Service Bulletin file.

I'm not sure the exact year. Someone who pays attention to these things (like Icemark ) would know.

The cold start unit does nothing really. It can be removed no matter what you car you drive.
