Cold Idle Problem

I've removed all my cold start systems but i've kept the BACV because it helped keep the car running when it was cold. Well its stopped doing that completely. If i start the car it will rev the about 1500 then drop and die UNLESS i hold in the clutch.... when i hold in the clutch it idles at 1300 or so untill it warms up and slowly drops to about 750. So why do i have to hold in my clutch to get a high idle???

there is a switch above the clutch pedal (not the one under the pedal that has to be pushed in to start the car). not sure what it controls but that is what causes it to die. i had the same problem and i never found out what it controls.
