Cold Air Intake (yes i searched), it's not the general questions
Okay, I've seen the many mods and everything for the CAI. Using a cut up prelude pipe, buying the 300+ mariah cai system, or even the welded pipe from cork, and the K&N filter add on system. What I would like to know (considering i don't have the tools to accomplish this) is how much it costs to have an aluminum pipe bent to fit in the bay from a machine shop? Anyone ever try it? if so how much and was it worth it? how's it run? is it anodized, or did you coat it with zarconium to aid in heat transfer around the metal (read that on a previous thread. haven't found a place that sells the paint, but found a place that sells the powder).
I know a guy in california that does really good work. If some one could give me some general info to know how much i'll be looking at i may be able to ask him to develop an intake kit for the car (weither or not he does, i don't know. That's his call)
My thought on the actual tube is the fact that TB is situated in such a way that it almost necisitates a 90 degree turn right from it, which as most everyone knows is a bad thing for an intake system (air doesn't like suddenly changing directions). anyone got any ideas on how to get around that?
Something else i would need to know (since i still have the oem ice box in) is how much space is freed up from the removal of that plastic, and is there a direct line to open air in the front air dam? if not could some one post some pictures so i know what the pipe would need to look like?
sorry this post was so long and on a subject that has been beat to death already, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
