Thanks for the feedback, i think ill just pass on making some and keep the original in storage. Honestly it wasnt really about making money (for me), i just thought id ask if anyone wanted it availiable again. One thing checked off my "to do" list now **crosses off "ask about CAI on forum"**

I didn't read the whole thread, and someone may have already said this...but people like to save money with DIY projects, and IMHO its fun as hell to fab quality performance uprgrades that look professional. I can do a complete CAI myself for about $35. $25 for a cone filter by Vibrant and $10 for the couplers. Of course I have a pipe bender and several welding and cutting units, but people without these can get the services at a minimal cost. Your idea is a good one, but IMHO not for the RX7 crowd...we like DIY too much to spend the extra cash on pre-fabbed CAI's.

I would make them if there was real interest. But honestly only a few close friends still want one. I was going to make about 5 this summer but my stainless steel pipe provider is out of stock and was back ordered for about 2-3 months. Its been about a month and a half and still no stock available for me to buy. I can give you some pointers on how to make one like the ones I have made though. IM me sometime and i'll answer whatever questions you have.

S4: Needs adapter. - $20 from HKS.

S5: No adapter needed - a coupler will fit on the AFM.

I'm driving w/ a cone filter w/o CAI. It sucks in the summer but summer is kinda short here. I feel my car is running rich in the winter and therefore I forget about CAI. Maybe I'm not serious about HP gained by CAI but $200 for a CAI is too much for me. I think most falks want to DIY it for fun.

I spent about 40-50 dollars on mine. Granted I already had the K&N filter that the last owner put on, but the intake piping I used did come with a Blitz style ebay filter which I could have used.

All I spent my money on was 92-96 honda prelude intake piping, a tube of 12" long 3 ID silicone to cut couplers out of (4 total 3" long each, only used 3) and an ebay AFM adapter. Eventually I'm going to get the higgi style AFM adapter and an Apexi cone filter for the system I built.

I wouldn't exactly consider myself a deadbeat. I was interested in Santiago's set up. Maybe i never really followed up on it (altough i did check up on the website) but i never knew when it was for sale. i checked the website and i think it said something about how it was still being developed. so i thought i would wait. never really heard anything since. so i am still interested in someone's setup. I would pay for something that not only functions well, but looks nice and professional too.

I have my filter mounted infront of the radiator- supplying head-on cold air directly to the turbo. Too bad its made of wrapped ABS pipe.

Based off Santiago's design.

Hah, my CAI may not work quite as well but it only cost me $6. I used two pieces of 3" PVC pipe. One 45 degree bend and one 90 degree bend. The small end of the pipe fits snuggly around the AFM adapter off ebay, and the filter I used fits tight in the wide end. I used a tube of SEAL-ALL to seal it all up and keep it together. Works great, if you don't mind your engine bay resembling a kitchen sink.
